Tamar Gordon, PhD

Founder and Clinical Director

Dr. Tamar Gordon is the founder and clinical director of Tamar Gordon Psychology, PLLC, the Gordon Therapy Group.  Dr. Gordon is a NY State licensed clinical psychologist and an expert in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and evidence based mental health treatment for adults and children. Dr. Gordon received her MA and PhD in clinical psychology from St. John’s University in 2005, completing a dissertation on the emotional effects of corporal punishment on children.  She received her B.A. in psychology from Harvard University, graduating with honors, and spent two years working at the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) studying seasonal depression. Dr. Gordon completed her two year post-doctoral fellowship training at the NYU Child Study Center in 2006.

Dr. Gordon has served as an adjunct faculty member at NYU Bellevue, Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology, Columbia University Teacher’s College, and the NYU Steinhardt Graduate School of Psychology, teaching CBT to graduate students in clinical psychology.  She has been a supervisor at a major mental health clinic, an expert consultant on trauma treatment to the United States Veteran’s Association, and a member of the Board for the Women’s Mental Health Consortium. Currently, she is an active member of the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies, The International OCD Foundation, and the Anxiety and Depression Association of America. She is passionate about helping people find healthy ways to experience emotions while living a valued life, and providing the most cutting edge evidence-based care available.

In addition to working directly with adults and children to address mental health challenges across the life span, Dr. Gordon enjoys sharing her knowledge of mental health more broadly.  She has provided webinars on children’s mental health for Torchlight.care, lectures on teens and anxiety for local schools, and Wellness Workshops for corporate clients.  She has been interviewed about OCD and children for the New York Times and Vogue magazine, given a mindfulness talk to the Working Mother Media conference, and trained dozens of Veteran’s Administration employees through the training platform she helped write with her mentor Dr. Marylene Cloitre.  She currently spends most of her working time at her private practice in New York City, and most of her personal time raising her two rambunctious sons.

Bianca Levy, PhD

Supervising Staff Psychologist; ADHD, Autism, and Selective Mutism Specialist

Dr. Bianca Levy is a full-time supervising psychologist at Gordon Therapy Group providing individual and family therapy to children, adolescents, and adults in English, French, and Spanish, as well as supervising post-doctoral fellows. She holds a PhD in School & Applied Child Psychology from McGill University; an EdM in Mind, Brain, and Education from Harvard University; and a BA with Great Distinction in Psychology from McGill University.

Dr. Levy completed her postdoctoral fellowship in evidence-based treatment and assessment at the NYU Child Study Center where she treated severe anxiety disorders such as Selective Mutism in the Camp Courage intensive program; provided an Organizational Skills Training program for children, adolescents, and young adults with ADHD; and helped parents learn skills for coping with children with social and behavioral difficulties in the Incredible Years program. Before NYU CSC, Dr. Levy completed her pre-doctoral internship in pediatric psychology at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, and completed a 2-year externship at an outpatient day program for early childhood disorders at the Jewish General Hospital in Montreal, QC.

Dr. Levy brings a strong research background to the Gordon Therapy Group and has led or collaborated on experimental and clinical research studies at McGill, Harvard Medical School/Boston Children’s Hospital, MIT, Boston College, and NYU. Topics ranged from the development of emotional understanding of music in individuals with autism, to developing group treatment for selective mutism, to investigating brain differences in school-age children with ADHD after an organizational skills intervention. Dr. Levy’s doctoral research assessed attentional abilities in teens and young adults with autism spectrum disorder.

Dr. Levy enjoys engaging the wider community in discussions of mental health prevention and treatment. She has given workshops on executive functioning in Tourette Disorder and ADHD, guest lectured in the NYU CAMS program, been interviewed about ADHD on Doctor Radio, and consulted on cases for Advocates for Children.

Dr. Levy loves working with clients of all ages, as well as providing training and guidance for parents and teachers.

Sara Morgenstern, PsyD

Staff Psychologist: PCIT and SPACE program parenting specialist

Dr. Sara Morgenstern is a full-time staff psychologist at the Gordon Therapy Group, and a specialist in SPACE treatment for anxious children. She received her doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology at Yeshiva University and her B.A. in Psychology and English from Bucknell University, graduating with honors.

Dr. Morgenstern has received intensive training in cognitive-behavioral therapy, and works with clients struggling with anxiety, OCD, depression, ADHD, eating disorders, and trauma-and-stressor related disorders. She completed a year-long postdoctoral fellowship at Academics West and Therapy West, where she provided individual therapy to children and adolescents with learning and emotional difficulties. She has extensive experience in collaborating with parents, teachers, and outside supports to design and implement behavioral interventions for children. Dr. Mogenstern has also worked in a variety of other settings, including community mental health centers, hospital outpatient departments, and residential treatment centers.

Dr. Morgenstern’s research has focused on depression and anxiety prevention, as well as the specific emotions and beliefs involved in the development of OCD.

Dr. Morgenstern particularly enjoys working with children, adolescents, and their families. She has a warm and collaborative approach, and believes in tailoring evidence-based interventions to the unique needs of each client.

Dana Jean-Louis, PsyD

Staff Psychologist

Dr. Dana Jean-Louis completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the Gordon Therapy Group, and has stayed on as a valued staff psychologist and team member. She has a passion for working with children, teens, and emerging adults, and extensive training in cognitive behavioral therapy. She received her doctorate in clinical psychology with a specialization in children and adolescents from the University of Hartford. For her dissertation, she created a multi-family manualized treatment for children with pediatric cancer and their families. She also holds a Masters in psychology from Long Island University where she completed her thesis on the impact of separation anxiety on school performance in preschool-aged children, and holds a BA in psychology and sociology from Rutgers University.

Dr. Jean-Louis has extensive experience working with children and families in a variety of settings. Prior to joining the Gordon Therapy Group, Dr. Jean-Louis trained at The Village for Families and Children in Hartford, CT, providing therapy, developmental assessments, and group therapy in both their outpatient clinic and a residential treatment program. Dr. Jean-Louis has also trained at Maimonides Medical Center, Connecticut College’s Student Counseling Center, and Family Medicine Center’s integrative primary care clinic. Throughout these training sites, Dr. Jean-Louis gained experience in providing evidence-based care to individuals across the lifespan.

Dr. Jean-Louis has a passion for studying and treating the impact of medical-related concerns on mental health, including athlete injury and rehabilitation, and pain management. She is also particularly skilled in working with young children with anxiety, finding creative ways to help them understand and manage fear and OCD.

Kathryn (Katie) Graham, PhD

Staff Psychologist

Dr. Kathryn Graham completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the Gordon Therapy Group, and has stayed on as a valued staff psychologist and team member. Dr. Graham has extensive experience working with children, families, and adults using evidence-based treatments. Prior to joining the Gordon Therapy Group, Dr. Graham trained at Hofstra University where she provided short-term cognitive behavioral therapy to college students, co-led a social anxiety group for students, and provided workshops teaching safe dating practices. Dr. Graham specialized in assisting college students with anxiety, OCD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and trauma-related concerns. She is well-versed in the fundamentals of CBT along with Cognitive Processing Therapy for trauma, Interpersonal Social Rhythms Therapy for bipolar disorder, and Exposure and Response Prevention for OCD. Prior to her work at Hofstra, she also trained in providing PCIT (Parent-Child Interaction Therapy) for young children with ADHD or oppositional behavior, and treating kids of all different ages with ADHD, OCD, anxiety, and depression.

Dr. Graham received her PhD and BA in Clinical Psychology from Adelphi University, graduating with honors. For her dissertation, she assessed the relationship between coping strategies and attachment patterns in mothers and children.  She’s also taught several college-level courses on developmental psychology and psychological assessment.

At work, Dr. Graham excels at helping people of all ages cope with OCD, PTSD, Social Anxiety, and Autism. Dr. Graham loves working with clients and their families directly and seeks to customize evidence-based interventions to meet the particular strengths and needs of each client. In her personal life, she’s a Star Wars fan and also loves watching sports of all kinds!
