Neuropsych Testing for Children on the Upper West Side

When school keeps feeling harder than it should for your child, a careful evaluation can turn guesswork into a plan. Often, parents and children find themselves stuck in a cycle of burnout and exhaustion from the daily demands of school, despite their best efforts.

Our child’s neuropsych testing clarifies attention, learning, memory, social communication, and executive functioning skills, and turns those findings into steps you can use at home and in the classroom. Many children feel relief when they realize they aren’t doing anything ‘wrong’—they just need different strategies to succeed.

Testing occurs in person near Central Park; parent intake and feedback may be conducted via secure telehealth from anywhere in New York.

When Neuropsych Testing Helps

Some kids push through with grit but struggle to keep up as academic demands rise. Others may also work for twice as long for only half the results.. You may encounter endless homework battles, missing study materials, or sudden mood swings after school.

Learning new material can feel  slow, and memory or language skills may feel shaky. Children may also exhibit uneven strengths, top marks in one area,  while struggling in another.

If any of these examples feel familiar for your family, neuropsychological testing may be a helpful next step.

Through  neuropsychological testing, we map these patterns  and explain what it means for  your child at this time.

What We Assess

Here’s the core of a comprehensive evaluation—we keep it targeted to your questions:

  • Cognitive abilities and reasoning
  • Attention and executive functions (planning, working memory, inhibition)
  • Memory and learning (verbal and visual)
  • Language (receptive, expressive, social/pragmatics)
  • Visual–spatial and fine-motor skills
  • Processing speed
  • Academic achievement in reading, writing, and math
  • Behavior and emotional functioning across settings

Our Process

We begin with a brief consultation to confirm a good fit and refine goals, then schedule a parent consultation to review your child’s history and all of your concerns.

Testing is conducted in person on the UWS, typically taking place over two to three days with movement breaks and a calm, predictable flow.

After  we score and interpret your child’s assessment, we meet for feedback—either via telehealth or in person—to review the results and discuss next steps.

You receive a readable, actionable report with recommendations that can be used with the school, doctor, or therapists.

Most evaluations require two to threeone to two mornings of in-person testing. Feedback typically follows after scoring and integration, with a clear timeline discussed at the consult.

A neuropsych exam looks beyond academics to brain-based skills like attention, memory, language, and processing—and connects them to daily life. A psychoeducational evaluation focuses more narrowly on academic achievement and IQ for the purpose of  guiding school placement.

We’re out-of-network. We provide a detailed receipt (superbill) so you can submit for reimbursement if your plan includes those benefits.  Our fee for a complete neuropsychological evaluation, including the report and feedback session, is $6500.
